From September 1, 2021 1 pregnant women can make a 13 week ultrasound. You have to participate in the IMITAS study. This study looks at the pros and cons of the 13 week ultrasound. You have to sign this consent form.
The ultrasound can be done between 12+3 and 14+3 weeks of pregnancy. The ultrasound looks for physical abnormalities. It DOES NOT check the sex of the baby.
If an abnormality is seen, the pregnant woman can choose to do further research. If nothing out of the ordinary is seen or something is not clearly seen no follow-up research is necessary.
Women do not have to pay for the 13 week ultrasound.
